Why Space maintainers
As we all know, a person gets teeth twice in a lifetime. One set is of milk teeth and the next set is of permanent teeth. Quite sometimes, it happens so that the milk teeth have to be removed before their natural timing of shedding. This has to be done mainly due to severe pain or tooth decay. After the tooth is removed a gap is created and as the permanent tooth has still some time before it appears in its place the gap persists. During this time, neighbouring teeth start moving in this unfilled gap and lead to crooked teeth. This situation can be prevented by a device called space maintainer.
